That depends. Winning in any sport requires the participants to play by the rules, or accept the judgement of a third party. After all, if I scream that the ball was out in tennis and we never agree either way then the point can never be given. In arguments you are usually considered to have lost if the opponent successfully proves you wrong, or you surrender. Sure, that can't always happen if you refuse to accept that you're wrong or there's nobody to provide external judgement, but usually people have enough sense to see that they're taking a beating and withdraw.
