Generally there were "Naganita Samurai" and they were very strong armor because with their Naganitas they were excellent agaisnt cavalry as well as they were good at defending bridges etc.
exactly...though some Japanese armor was lightweight (ie Ashigaru armor) many were almost as heavy as plate in western europe (ie Great Armor) you can't just say...well, samurai have light but weak armor
