If there was more to armor you can add more pros and cons but this is pretty much all I see =/
Weapons would pretty much go the same way.

Wooden Pirate Hook - 1 board, 1 iron
Metal Pirate Hook - 1 board, 2 iron blades
Diamond Pirate Hook - 1 board, 1 diamond
