I think maybe I posted my idea wrong..... the formula should be [character level - spell level = number of tries]. So if you're a level 10, working on a level 5 spell, you get 5 tries before you have to start worrying about exp again. For spell level > character level, you could get 1 try minimum at each char level.
Now that I've corrected it.......
How is this not fair? If a lev-10 char can't learn a lev-5 spell in 5 tries, the character is obviously not too bright (or not too lucky) so he should have to earn a new level to try it again. If you try to learn a spell that's higher-level than you are, you get one shot (to find out if you're really intelligent/really lucky) and then you have to level up to try again.
Personally, I think 2k2 should have separated physical level and spell level anyway. Like a sorceror could be a lev-10 magic and only a lev-2 melee (if he's used spells more than weapons), and a warrior could be just the opposite. My formula might work better if it had been done this way. |
