I wouldn't say that land mass the castle is on is an island, rather that it has a large moat. As to the shape, I'll have to get back to you - I didn't pay attention.
~Edit~ It's a little plain, sort of as if it were manmade. Erosion wouldn't make those kind of straight edges. ~End Edit~
