I think I heard on the the starting developers(sp?) talk about the basic theme of Graal... I think they said something like...
Graal is based in the future just a big war happened and technology was lost... survivors were thrown into choas so they lost all knowledge of culture and basic technology...
Then the whole Human Evolution happened over. New Languages, New Cultures, New Technologies.
