I don't see what is so great about drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol. My sister and dad are cigarette smokers, and they know it's bad, but they are addicted. My sister's friend is a drunk, and she also knows this, and knows it's bad. But she is addicted.
My motto is, alcohol and drugs are for people that are too weak to feel comfortable around others without having excuses such as "I was acting stupid because I was drunk" That is like 90% of the reason people drink/do drugs. Because they can blame anything they do on the substance, and they can finally make friends with people because if they screw up meeting with them, they can just say it was the drugs/alcohol. 
I know many people that do this just to hang out with others and have something to do/talk about. It's sad really.

That could possibly be one of the reasons. I dont drink, but i smoke every now and again. When i feel like not smoking, i dont, cause i dont want to. My "addiction" isnt that bad yet. People drink and do drugs because they are bored too. Doing those things make you experience different feelings and emotions, as well as physical and mental alterations. Personally, I dont like or want to walk around completely wasted everyday, because when you're wasted, you might be having fun, but you're normally missing out on things you can do while youre not wasted. Getting completely rocked once a month is ok with me, lol. Once a week is WAY too much, and more than that, you're just a junky.
