The shadow will change soon.. The character is supposed to be darker, trust me, it looks nicer with the character standing out from the background. (this is done in a lot of games)
The reason the character is bigger than the door in both my playerworld and Graal's other servers? Because the character would look stupid shorter. It's just the thing that you have to deal with when you have 16x16 tiles. Unless somebody felt like stretching the door 3 tiles up, and then it would look bad.
Some people might not like the graphics, but you can't please everybody. There is always going to be people with different styles and tastes. The main thing I care about, is that I can please everyone when it comes to gameplay. Graphics are only there for support.
