I know something of this sort of topic.
Firstly, the police won't give a damn. They don't have the time to go around looking for trojan kiddies trying to nail one. Even if they did, they would constantly have to go through jurisdictions in order to catch 1 person who screwed over a gaming community.
The FBI won't give a damn either. With all the attention drawn to it right now, and the fact that usually the FBI only goes after people that send out code Malicious virii(they destroy computers and multiply at an alarming rate, or destroy data and multiply at an alarming rate), it's not too likely that even if you sent in the IPs that they would care.
I'm not saying I approve of what they do. I would be mad as hell if someone hacked my account. I love my p2p. But the police can't do anything because they can't even lead an investigation in their own state due to county restrictions, and the FBI has bigger fish to fry.
