Well, when I'm bored of Graal 2001 (which is all the time lately) I like to go on other servers and PK. Yes, I randomly attack people. I do my best, at least, to only attack other PKers and stop when someone obviously doesn't want to fight. So how does this apply to Graal 2001? Well, this is my suggestion: some kind of catacombs, which are dangerous. Put in baddies, traps, lava, etc. And make it one big PK zone. Obviously there's no such thing as a PK zone, as people can attack others just about anywhere on the Graal map, if they so desire. What I mean is, just make it really okay to PK there. Maybe make it a sparring zone, to prevent loss of money, or just create an NPC that prevents you from losing money for as long as you're in the catacombs. Put a warning sign at the entrance, only admit people who've done both heart quests, and let them slog in and wail on enemies and each other. I can tell you that the one thing lacking the most from Graal 2001 is combat. And incidentally, the only reason I don't like using the Bomy Moon is because the whole "automatically-lose health every 30 seconds or so no matter what" thing is not very groovy at all.
Next, more hearts, and more weapons. I don't care if these are in quests or you're bloody giving them out. Try to stay away from putting them in shops, because I and many other people do not enjoy tapping a button for hours just to get enough money. And don't make it level-1 sword, level-2 sword, level-3 sword, etc. In those cases whoever has the best sword wins automatically (unless they really suck). Make weapons which have different strengths and weaknesses, and above all, make combat interesting! Graal is not an RPing game; it is a killing game, with RPing stuck in, causing much bitterness and *****ing between roleplayers.
Which brings me to my next point: provisions for RPers. I like the "conquerable zones" thing, which allows for a much more dynamic environment while still allowing for non-RP combat. Actually, most of my points can be found in that essay I posted in the Kingdoms forum.
"Legendary" weapons would be wicked cool. Make them have special powers or whatever, and make it so there's only one of each in the Graal world. Make it so if a person who holds a legendary weapon is defeated, whether in sparring or regular combat, the winner gets the weapon. Also make it so that no one person can have more than one legendary weapon. To prevent the weapons from switching hands every ten seconds, the special powers and enhancements bestowed upon their holders would have to be significant. Obviously there should be a small number of these (like 3 to 5). |
