Considering i didnt wait for Graal 2002, i'll say yes, it was worth the wait.
Did i like Graal 2002? Yes... but the sword is awful and i still wouldnt play because none of my other friends will(no p2p accounts). Will this save Graal from dying? I doubt it, I believe when Classic dies, Graal will die, and Stefan and Unixmad seem to be trying to kill Classic.
