My concept for the perfect PW
Okay, here are my guidelines that I should make a PW good
1) Plot comes first!
This rule has been broken so many times I feel it deserves to be at the top of my list! Don't make something if it does not fit into the plot! Also, make sure that the plot is gradually given to the player by NPCs and what not...
2) Quests should be HUGE!
The most terrible thing I hate about a PW is when it has 1 or 2 quests, and they only have 2 or 3 levels to them, another thing I hate is linear quests, where you kill all the baddies in the room and the next door opens...AND FOR GODS SAKE! NEVER EVER DO A "CARRY [OBJECTHERE] ACROSS PATH WITH WATER" QUEST! THEY ARE TERRIBLY CLICHE!
3) Quests should have order
The quests should be in some sort of order, it doesn't have to be in an extreme you *must* do this before doing this, but it should require some order to the quests...
4) Towns need unique buildings that actually serve a purpose
This is a terrible problem in Today's PWs...each building actually needs to serve a purpose, be it a Shop, an Inn, a PlayerHouse, whatever, just some sort of purpose!
5) Levels need to look good when connected via map
