There are not many commercial games, if any, that use MIDI for their music anymore. A lot of developers use CD Audio or some other format for their music. For lots of free use midis, visit
http://www.vgmusic.com. Just because they are based on a specific game does not mean they are copyrighted to the developer, such as Squaresoft. Unless they are OSV, they are and should be considered remixes, even if they pretty much match line for line the music from another game.
