There have been many posts on this board about roleplaying, how it could be initiated, how it could be organized... but the thing is, Graal already has a system of roleplaying. It's called the Police.

This really disgusts me. When Graal 2k1 was opened, everyone was happy, and PKers were scarce, so there was no need for any kind of police then, but now, there are more people who are more than willing to do anything in order to ruin the fun of others. Graal's response was the Police, a faulty organization of playersthat would hopefully settle disputes and make Graal a better playing environment.

Unfortunately, it did none of that.

Instead, it gave a select group of players power; the power to jail anyone they pleased. And for how long? I've heard numerous accounts of players being jailed and policemen simply forgetting about them and maybe releasing them the next day. And the sad thing is, the policemen are simply players who signed up for Graal for one purpose: to have fun. Now some ***** decides to give some players authority as well. Having fun through authority? You may not admit it, but it's going on now.

These players were assigned to jail players who'd abuse others, by PKing, verbally harassing, and stuff like that. Unfortunately, most of these Policemen, because of vague interpretation of the rules, are simply jailing everyone who PKs during various circumstances. Yesterday, someone (I'm not going to mention any names) was jailing players who were PKing at a public event. The event had no organization whatsoever, and when was the last time 50 Graalians in one room ever sat still? If I didn't want anyone to PK during my public event, I'd go right to the scripts and make the room a no PK zone. I wouldn't allow a player to take into his own hands and jail the PKers. For all those people who were jailed last night for that very reason, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that a player ruined other players' fun just because of a personal dislike.

And I think something must be done about this. You just simply cant give players authority and expect them to carry it out in a professional manner. They're players for Christ's sake! If you want to stop PKing, make the level a no pk zone! If you want to stop players from abusing each other, don't assign a player to stop it. Assign an administrator...

This is simply an editorial and my view of the Policemen, not a personal attack. You can comment if you want, but keep in mind that I'm not trying to offend anyone.
