Would you rather both sides loose thousands? Our the side that did wrong? We gave them fair warning, and they didn't listed...twice we did this. Violence is the only way in some cases, and this was one of them.
We did not have the technology back then to do long range bombings with ships like we do now...they had to go in with planes. No think of it, 2 atomic bombs before they listened...imagine how many bombs and planes it would have taken without....planes which could be shot down, and many lives lost. The way we did it, althought didn't seem so, saved lives...I look at it mathematically, I'm sorry if you don't.
