Because it's annoying and it's not who I am perhaps?
Say for instance 70% of the people in your town thought you were a serial killer and reported you to the police, yet the police found no evidence showing that you were the killer, but everyone in the town still thinks you're the killer and they rub it in your face day by day at a time. Would that get on your nerves when you are put down, not allowed to do some things because people dont trust you, and maybe even your own family wouldn't let you into the home in which you sleep?
