Correct me if I'm wrong, but...

Neither Super Nintendo nor the Sony PlayStation use MIDI Synthesizers for their music. Am I right? Most MIDI's circulating around the net that are game music(vgmusic.com) are fanmade, and are not perfect reproductions. Seeing as how the midi is not made by the company that produced the game, that does not make it a copyrighted file that can be sued over, due to the fact that it is not the same thing and is a fan's rendition of the song. Am I right or am I wrong? I personally think that my reasoning is sound...

So, going by this, shouldn't sites like "vgmusic.com" which has over 10,000+ MIDI's from video games be shut down if it is illegal? If MIDI's like that, made by simple people using synthesizers and other computer programs, are illegal because they are reproductions of good works of music featured in video games, then it wouldn't take me too long to find you a dozen sites that should get shut down because they are at least one hundred times more illegal than Napster or any MP3 file sharing program or MP3's themselves. Am I right? Or wrong?
