Well, one would point out that economy is a part of gameplay -_-.
Despite this, a idea similar to this one has been applied in the past, one where the stability of the economy was completely ignored; we called that attempt Jen Era.
Economy is much a part of game play; as much as player-killing or community.
The notion that you must demolish one of these aspects to perpetuate overall game-play is nothing short of paradoxical; as one would think you'd have to first perpetuate one or all of these aspects in order to achieve your objective.
