But they acquired the event coins somehow. Either by trading or playing events. The item in question that would be available in the shop is a consumable key to unlock harder and more rewarding content. It's not double click to get free exp.
But sure I can see where you're coming from but I feel people sometimes lump together P2W with P2convenience and P2promote-different-playstyles.
