The new rings are just on a whole new level, but I'm actually glad they made a mage ring to counter the melee ring but I dunno if we're reaching a whole new, and not good, plateau of power with these rings. Wonder what stats the third ring has.
We've got a Melee ring with positive resists in magic and coupled with the Helmet of Deceit (which is the new standard helmet) a warriors stats would base out at 30, 24, 27. Running at optimum, with the best gear at your disposal you'd be looking to get that Dex sorted out ASAP, which is easy enough and you could kill off some of your other stat req's at the same time. Throw in BoRD, Dex Bracers and Archers and it's a 30 30 29 incomplete set with some extra speed thrown in. Slots that haven't even been included: Armor, Cape, Mask, Amulet, Boots, Weapon and Shield, and you could switch around the bracers/gloves for gale. Possibilities here are many, There's enough free slots available to make a warrior-mage which previously needed considerable sacrifices. It's rarity however does make it extremely unlikely that it'll have an effect on gameplay, and while it surely sets up for an anti-mage warrior, with no drawbacks, the melee contest will continue to depend on skill rather than who's stats are overcapped the best.
The mage ring faces the same criticism but instead of facing the possibility of a hybrid, it definitely looks like the ultimate speed mage is coming. Dual GBOS, Wolf Mask, Bunny Tail, BDA/RDA, Boots of Speed, Gale Armor, Samurai Bracers, Archers, ASoD, BoCH/LPB, Any +2speed helmet pref shroom with dex, and Wand of Agility. |
