Chests are much heavier than bags. They should be stored in your house, not on you. I'm strictly speaking of stuff like bags, quivers, keyrings, rucksacks, and so on.

Bags of Holding are a really good example of what I'm talking about. In order to create one on debug or elsewhere, you have to add strength as a stat to a normal bag when you're creating it. What this does is increase the bag's weight limit, but the bag itself retains the same light weight in your inventory. That's why ones you can find in-game are very rare and valuable.

And yeah, the idea with mine carts is to place them on the ground in your house. Not on your character. I used to keep several in my house just to store the ridiculous amounts of platinum I had from transmuting dusts.
