Boat A would still rape everything in battle. If Boat D had more cannons the cannons would be spaced out enough so that only one cannon would actually hit a boat A. It would work against another Boat D but if your ever in a position to hit someone bang on, with both cannons, then your doing bad because you will be able to hit you full on as well. You would only give as much damage as you receive. The best strategy in winning a boat battle is to be one being chased and only let me get into a position where you can shoot the front segment of their boat and they can't do anything to you since their cannons (near the middle of the boat) would miss you completely which forces them to turn or continue to sail on, get a few shots off on you but ultimately lose 20-30% in a matter of seconds.
Also, Boat A can be manned by 1 person who can both sail it and operate a cannon. Boat B would need 2-3 people (1 sailor, 2 gunners?). Now surely having 3 Boat A's out at sea is better than 1 Boat D.
I welcome the new boats though, just saying where I'd stand on the Boat A/D situation. |
