I'd hate to see what is no doubt highly impressive work go to waste and all, alot of thought, real proper planning and effort has gone into it, and I have to say to a much greater extent than most if not all server Development projects i've seen over the last few years, but unfortunately its construction has co-incided with the construction of an official Classic project which is still alive to this day, has also recieved alot of thought, planning and effort, has demonstrated quality on the Community Based content side of things, and is still progressing towards a Questing based setup.
Is it really in the best interests that in the event of the Development community here finally getting together and committing to such a large task (which is something that has been put forward on several occasions but never got off the ground), it be towards a server which not only shares its name/identity, core levels, tileset aka visuals but has quite alot of similarities in its gameplay?
And is it really in the best interests in the progressing Classic server itself that there would not only be yet another version of it on Graal, but this time a version of it which is actually not too different?
I think the ideal solution assuming the Community Development project were to get off the ground would be to salvage as much as possible of this work and re-organise it towards a new identity, this may lack the nostalgia value of Classic but would allow you to be fresh in more ways, you wouldn't have to worry about keeping it consistent history wise, which may be difficult if there weren't many people involved that are knowledgeable about Classic anyway.
Something entirely new would also allow greater freedom of design ideas among contributors, which is surely important for such a project to succeed.
