The more Dex a mage has, the less they'll be slowed by poison. Your total Dex can exceed 30, and the effect of poison is just to lower your stat points by something like 3-5 points per stat affected. So if you have like 35 total Dex points, poison shouldn't lower you below 30 when it hits.
