And coming from a Lats point of view, Era has taken its tiles and tried to use them in a "creative" way like people began to do with pics1 which can actually be seen in the way the floors are done in the screenshot.

When making a modern server maybe someone can think among the lines of a real home, a real office, a real kitchen, a real garage, etc. etc; instead of being "creative" just let the tiles look nice in a well placed manor. (I personally think that's very crucial)
This guide is very valid, and I like it, but really Era is quite genius.

If I remember correctly it was founded by 'scripters' (if we are to group people for the moment), so it took away the issue of having to create amazing graphics by creating a simplified tileset, which also took away the need to create amazing levels as the tileset is quite simplified, or (due to the nature of the server) the levels quickly filled up with wide roads and wide sidewalks that there wasn't much room left for detail!

Essentially, Era passed off old graal style levels (lack of detail) during a period when level design took a turn for time consuming high level detail. The way they got away with it was by changing the sword for multiple guns and by creating a new tileset!

Of course, it's exactly this reason why it cant successfully be copied (the 'modern server' can) but another server with a tileset and level design too identical cannot, as Era wasn't graphically pleasing at first, and we allowed it once but we don't want to allow it twice as players!

GK and Zone are exactly the same. The tileset allows for quick levels to be produced, and then the houses/trees fill as detail, and then there is nothing left but the items and players where the main attention to graphical detail is directed! It is all essentially a coping mechanism for the lack of free talent circulating around Graal.

Luckily Era has improved as it got online, with better graphics and level detail. But I think any server hoping to quickly get online in the same way Era did by overlooking detail will not have a chance, as it only really works once. They're better off taking time and creating something new and unique!
