Yes but things like CTRL + C should not work on Mac ... one of the thing Mac applications usually have in common is consistency, and it's nice to have the same commands. Also, COMMAND + W should close external windows, but it does nothing except type a W.
When using CMD + Q to quit an application (say Safari), once that quits it will put Graal to focus, and Graal detects that and quits. I think Graal has some kind of generic detection rather than the default system since other applications do not do this.
EDIT: Mac keyboards don't even have a home button (at least the notebooks). It's CMD + LEFT to go home, CMD + RIGHT to go to end, which is actually more intuitive in my opinion.
