People DO have problems/things to straighten out IRL from time to time. At least give the frames of houses 2-3 weeks before they start to die. That would then leave the person enough time to get on and put a little work into it to reset the timer before it rots again. (That is IF there was a timer to it for the 2-3 week span.)
