It looks more like a grass texture if anything. I would go with a more pixeled looking sand rather than pre-meditated shapes, lines and highlighting. Second, The reason someone said the tiles look flat before would be for the simple fact that your transition from grass to sand lack depth. It looks as if the grass is connected to the sand, when it should actually appear as if it is "under" the grass if I may say. In your case, seeing as you can see the blades in your grass tile, I would advise that you make blades pertrude outwards from your grass to sand, than add a shadow underneath the grass to make it appear as if the grass is standing above the sand. And last.. I think this is more of a personal opinion.. But your wall/window tiles dont very much seem to go with the style of your roof and terrain textures. I would give it more of a "samurai" feeling I guess? Like a building made of a thin white cardboard, with wooden posts maybe? But anyways.. Its a very great start and could indeed become something nice if you can maintain your focus on making it better, rather than just trying to add more and more tiles (like I do sometimes ). But yeah, I hope to see more updates in the near future.
Thanks for the extreme C&C, gonna look up to doing it now.
