No they didn't. Val had an RPG system in 2002. Maloria was barely released for the first time in like 2001, and it had no level up system. It just had a bunch of jobs and events. I remember it.

It is an RP server as of now, but in 2002/2003 it was both an RP and RPG.
In 2003 under Jesse's management/level up system Val was an RPG. Assuming the new level up system is a success you can bet it'll go back to RPG.
