Police officers in real life aren't usually asked questions... I might be wrong, though. Also, last I checked, there isn't a special force in real life for questions...
Cashiers are supposed to know the prices, and are supposed to tell you the prices. Not the manager. You're only supposed to ask the manager about problems with how the place is being run, or a suggestion, etc... not with a price question (unless they're being the cashier for that day). Besides, at McDonald's, they put the prices up on a board, which is where you should look before asking a cashier a price.
As for the FAQ answering your question and showing you where the music shop is... well, that's his job.
