You're basing this assumption on your superior knowledge of our "weird" education system. You've really not stated why it's weird, or why - because of being weird - it would change our university level courses.

I've not attended university, I am however in the process of getting my Graphics Design diploma at a college. In my free time I've done some reading and I know why columns are designed and used in this manner.

What he's emphasizing is that podeums/columns are designed to be used in specific manners... in Roman times. Sure, it's classy to keep with those rules - but Hell, you won't see that in the real world where executives make decisions.
