You can also use new server concepts. Most importantly -if you want to be original- try working out a nice body for the player ect. Like I said before take a peek at games such as Ragnarok,MU online,Staronline. They all have pretty nice characters.
Try making your server in a theme (e.g I think Chris is working on some Asian server.. pretty nice) wich can be almost anything. But when you do a theme make sure you work out the details and have kick ass graphics. If your gonne do a modern server stop looking at Era and wright your own book on the subject.
What is most important for me is that the server has:
-Very nice graphics (if e.g blookat or zero would make a server i'd be sure as hell to player it :P just cause the gfx would be nice, sorry for the artist that I left out)
-Basic collectables (Pets,Items,Playerhouses with furniture)
Anyhow a theme i'd realy like to see is a "platform" (side view) server like Maple Story. Done by a excelent pixelarts (go Tom)
I'm 100% sure it could work out very nicely if done in a proper manner.
