Some Beginner Questions For You Advanced Players

I just started playing and learned you can heat up iron to make various iron elements but now I'm lost

I don't know how to get planks, the square wooden ones. I have an axe I just don't know where to go to make them

I also don't know where to get cloth or how to make cloth

And finally, Where do I go to sell items that creatures drop?

I understand these are really noobish questions but I am a beginner and your help would be greatly appreciated, If you want to help out even further when answering my questions please state the city where the stuff is located, and if its outside of a city please state what direction, my character is really slow walking so its hard to find stuff.
