Which do you prefer?
|
I am wondering what type of game everyone here would prefer as far as story and theme goes. The choices are simple: An epic among a few, an epic among many, or both. What do I mean by this?
An epic among a few is what I would use to describe a game such as Diablo 2. You can interact with a mass players, but play with only a few. My integration of this would be more like a new game which starts with a G, and has a second word which starts with a W. Basically, each player has stronger skills and matter a great deal - and team strategy is a massive issue. There can be no weak links if you plan on defeating your enemy. The story is also more singular and would effect the global game. Only about 2-4 players would be needed in a team to make a great deal of progress and the levels would most likely be instanced.
An epic among many is very different. Your character really is just part of a big picture. There is no prime enemy and the gameplay wouldn't likely have a forward moving story. It would only have a complex history. It would also likely be a good vs evil type thing where the prime enemy is actually a player. I think it is much more suited for a MMORPG, but considering graal cannot handle very many players in the same level I am reluctant about it. Anyway, it would require much larger teams in the 10s or 20s in order to make a nice amount of progress, and the world would be mostly a big, dynamic world with few or no instanced realms.
I could get more in depth, but I think you get the picture I am trying to paint. If you are more of a soloing type guy, choose option a. If you like working in large teams or are the commander type, choose b. If you would rather have a hybrid of the 2 where it would be a somewhat massive world but many instanced levels, choose c. |
