A bigger tablet gives you a bigger area to work with, so each movement can be a little more precise.
Generally, the tablet is mapped to the screen, so moving an inch on the smaller tablet, will move further than moving an inch on the larger tablet. Gives you slightly more control.
I've got the 4x6 myself, and it's not too bad. It was $100.
