Providence comments

Hey. I just want to say, before I start, that although the level quality isn't the greatest, Providence is a server with great potential. I love the whole player-owned store idea. It's something I've been wanting to see for a long time. Stealing from players is also a great idea... is there a chance of detection, by the way? I mean, I suppose you might notice if your gralat count suddenly goes down, but is there a chance that a message pops up saying "Such-and-such has tried to rob you!"? Another thing: what do you have against different bodies? I can understand not wanting people to have a shield which looks like a big marijuana leaf, or a sword which looks like a fish. But for some people's characters, a cape is part of their identity! Couldn't you at least offer a select few bodies (i.e. excluding the chicken body and such)? I hope some people get RC soon, and that the NPCs get fixed, because it's wonderful to finally have an RP server, but it sucks if you can't even use it properly...

I just thought of something... why limit the changing of heads/bodies/swords/shields at all? There's still nothing to stop people from putting on a giant eyeball head during the character creation process. The way I see it, it would be best to just trust that people who have the Invite flag will be mature enough not to use any stupid heads/swords/etc. And maybe there could be a penalty for not using appropriate heads. One final thing: I don't like the fact that every time someone blocks the entrance to a house that you happen to be in with a gralat, you lose all your class points (or whatever they're called). Perhaps unstick me should take you back to the character appearance room. It would be pretty easy, I think, to prevent people from unsticking past the rest of the character creation process, simply by scripting the door in the appearance room to take you back to the beginning if you don't have a class, job, and gender.

Like I said, we're working on it. The NPC's weren't meant to handle that huge amount of players on opening day, and we're still fine tuning some of the better NPC's.

I agree with Xeripher. The server isn't all that good. It was built up to be something great and it's not. I see about 6 inside levels. The outside levels are just generated and hardly editted with a few midis thrown in. It reminds me of Tier'Dal (although I don't think Tier'Dal added midi's).

I was talking to Vincent about it and he said its nice. We just havent seen the real world yet. They are still working bugs and such out.

Everyone says it's bugs...there cannot be bugs in the levels (excluding scripts). Unless you used an NPC to place the tiles for the level, which is stupid. I see almost nothing in the way of levels.

Of course..

Please consider the fact that Tyne wasn't able to test every NPC with the NPC Server before release, so some of them won't/aren't working until they get them fixed.
