The Scripter's Mindset
Hello, I was just wondering how most of you top-notch scripters script the things you do. I don't know if it's just me, but I can learn everything about scripting but when it comes down to making an actual NPC, I have no idea how to use the stuff I learned or I make NPCs that are inefficient/should have been done another way. What tips can you give people with this problem?

Batten down. The only way to do ANYTHING is to get down and dirty, constantly testing, revising and discovering new things to do with old commands. And after you think your as good as you'll ever be, study more. Purchase some books on professional video game programming if you need to. Anything to expand your horizons!

I dunno i just think of something and automaticly like I know what has to be done and what needs to be done and when i start scripting its like the script is written in ur head and ur just really debugging it
and whoopa .. are you from rainbowsix? |
for me I just like first think of the script I want to make...
then I think how it can be done and what things I have to script with it... good example would be like a bomy on 2001 you first start out thinking what will it look like and stuff... Then you start thinking what will it beable to do... it can do like custom commands (but then you have to think of what commands you want htem to costomize and ect) then I think of how I can do it like the accual scripting.. then I script it and then debug it until it works... |

when i wanna make a script, i search my graal folder for cool images, mostly the webgifs folder, and get an idea, but im a terrible scripter, so it kinda works out, like i used the graal fish image, and made two different sushi scripts, whoa
