Questions for LATs

Hello Graal LATs, I have a few questions to ask about generic grass detailing that is done in levels.

What patterns do you use consistently? Is any tile (high grass vs flower, etc) favored over another? About what percentage of the grass in a level is some sort of detailed tile rather than just plain grass? Do you have some sort of methodology of distributing, or do you just randomly place tiles?

Depends what your intentions are; a forest looks good with marsh and heavy grass detailing where as a town you would go with very little grass detail. I keep it very basic when detailing using roughly about 7 tiles through out the level and I tend to place them in random places together rather than just everywhere!

I always use groups of grass blades and cut swamps with the occassional flower or other form of 1 tile decoration. I don't really use many bushes but when I do I keep them along with mushrooms near trees and away from roads.

Yeah, like said.. It all depends on which kind of "theme" you're aiming at.

You could use patches of grass and flowers, for a basic theme.

For Forestry I would use alot of grass, and swamp/tall grass.
etc
etc

Just use your own imagination, doesn't matter which tile is favored over one another, because usually you can use any tile and add some imagination and make it really good. I usually judge levels on creativity and dedication other than appearance.
