.nw wordpad editing for Graal Kingdoms
Hey, I love trying to do outside dev work on graal kingdoms, problem is a lot of the game's .nw files seem incomplete.
Recently I've taken to editing the height points using wordpad. I find it quicker and easier to set heights this way, however on some levels like zormite_ax-03.nw there is no height part of the .nw file. there's not much of anything at all. Just GLEVNW01 followed by the Links to other map parts. However, when I load the exact same .nw file up into the level editor low and behold there is terrain instead of emptiness. Where is it storing these points and how do I get at them outside of the editor? |
Stuff like that is stored in the .gmap file, pretty sure about that. I think editing one height point in the editor then setting it back to what it was with a save after every step should write all the information into the .nw file. Not too sure about it though, I rarely use terrain levels.

Yes, as Crow said, if there are no terrainpoints on the level file, it will refer to the points in the gmap file. If there are terrain points in the level, then it will override what's in the gmap file.

Doubles my work load for every .nw like that but hopefully it'll be worth it.

I find that notepad editing is a fairly convenient way to flatten terrain if need be. It's especially useful if you're working on a new town or castle space.
