Guilds, useless?
 
There are so many guilds now. . . most of them are non multi-guilding guilds too!
Everyone is in a guild, so people who make a guild are completely screwed and will most likely go no were with there guild! :(

You know what to do... discuss, contrast and elaborate! No flaming please!

What are the purposes of global guilds, anyways? :\ As a Valikorlia player, I've been deprived of being able to use them.

You don't really gain anything by being in a guild. . . theres no tourneys, events etc. there may be castle wars on UN but that's basically dead.

well it kind of does bring people dogether, and guild wars and events are always fun :) it's just a feature of graal.

plus i'd never give up my guild. (<3) on top!

Well back in the day guilds meant alot. SMK on UN had it's own city (wasn't sure if it was ever fully loaded though?) Guilds use to be a way to roleplay, make friends, and particpate in guild related events. Now they are basically just a way for friends to communicate and so friends can pk together. Global Guilds imo killed guilds as then guilds were spread out and then they died out.

Yeah, back when Graal server had hundreds of people each daily guilds were awesome, like N-Pulse always had guilds and houses/ many many leveled guild, but now that hardly anyone plays and a few servers seem to have disabled global guilds, their sort of pointless.

Well if local guilds were killed off, then global guilds would probably be a bit more active.

Exactly. The 2 major servers have guilds disabled: Zodiac and Era

Era I can sort of understand why it has global guilds disabled, but they have the party system (if that still exists). So it doesn't matter if they are disabled or not now does it?

I think it's just the lack of effort on most of the guild leaders side that causes the lack of gang activity.

Guilds on Zone have always been used quite much, but now there is the Squad system.

Guilds are a sort of global community. The guild wars of old. The families that transcend servers. The group that applies to all of Graal.

There is no reason for servers to disable them, because they're much more flexible than local guilds. Servers, like Era or Zodiac, can still have their big nations and gangs without disabling global guilds, if anything, their party (and local guild system) are just unnecessary extras, used because they think global guilds are somehow any different than a local guild.

There was a post somewhere about a guild being called "Staff" being used to impersonate staff on the server. Aside from Guild Admins to handle that, that wouldn't just be an individual server problem, that would affect everyone, so it obviously wouldn't last long.

That's generally my only concern with global guilds. Players creating a guild named after a Nations or Local Guilds then using it to cause mischief. But scripts can prevent this, however at the time setting that server option seemed a lot easier.
