Angel Clan using Default HD.

Angel Clan has been changed to a default HD area.
For now, this area is 8/2, which is what 90 PERCENT of the server has as their stats.
AP function as normal, with AP restrictions applying.

Events toggle will be the real test of what problems default HD may cause, expect the togggle later this week.

Thanks ol'chum ;)

Keep up da work man.

Make no doubt that default will probably cause a lot of trouble in events.
I tried it in a ctf level and the entire GUI fell down the screen

fa12 06-04-2009 08:15 PM

Yep that's bound to happen.

Dear Darkcloud

I like what you are doing. I still can't believe though you worry so much about events. What do you consider MORE important in the long run?? some stupid events? or the servers state in general?

A few events dont make a server to a success yet you still care so much for events.

I'd say don't think about the state of events right now. It's about testing the servers capacity, by trying out certain areas. Then when it is succesfull, move your testing to a bigger content. I really don't think people would mind events being hurt by this process. There's tons of other events that you don';t need to use default HD for. It will maybe even inspire the current gc team to host other events based on not killing eachother, but require teamwork or solo play (musical chairs, 4 in a row) whatever...

anyway, heads up pal!

Right now events are about all Classic has...

DarkCloud_PK 06-04-2009 09:19 PM

events are a major portion of what the server was built on(a tad too much) for 5 years.
events will always be a part of the server, though I hope one day, it will be a compliment to the server, than being a major porition of the server.
nonetheless, i want to make sure things are done correctly.

I don't think it would hurt classic if it would disable it's events. I'm sure players would be willing to "beta-test" stuff for DC. Events are just a temporary solution. The playercount is already low , so even with events enabled you don't have much. Seems people worry more about playercount then content.

While I think GC does need a break, events ultimately are up to Night.
I am providing the toggle which will allow GCs to toggle back and forth between scripted and default HD, if I forced them into default, Night would have every reason to have me fired.
What direction events go and how the team is run is up to Night, I simply am providing the scripting assistance so that his team can recover from being used to keep the server up for so long.

No. Classic had so much to offer back in the day that it could easily profit from it's events till now. The credit is gone as you can see, and players are leaving because even events don't satisfy no more. Time has past classic, where normally classic passed time.
We have a gap in that and we must turn back time.;)
Stop your worries about events cause that's been the mistake by every developer the last 5 years.

DarkCloud_PK 06-04-2009 09:29 PM

I'm not focusing on events. Most of my small dev teams work is going towards non GC content. I don't want GC to be the overbearing force that wasnt able to sustain itself anymore either. However, that doesn't mean I can leave the GC team is complete shambles the way they are now. Relying too heavy on events is bad, having a completely crippled events team and thus, almost no events at all, is even worse. I have one scripter and some management help on GC, the rest of GC help is in Night's hands.
Most of the work will be up to Night and using his gani skills and imangination for prizes.

BlackSolider 06-05-2009 06:43 AM

Lets face it: classic is on a life support system called events. This is definately not a good thing, but it is what it is. "Disabling events" would ultimately cripple the server, or whats left of it. Classic desperately needs some content to fill the gaps in between events. The card game didn't fullfill that role. Neither did bowling or the mini game system. Sparring and PKing can only do so much. All of those can be boosted with some work to make some decent content. Classic could use a balance of events and content, so we need to work towards that goal. I have no problem with attempts to bring default HD to ctf (though I haven't used default much) or other events since because A) ctf is our best, most hosted, and most requested event, B) many events are brought down somewhat by the lackluster HDs we currently use, and C) DC has already worked on default sparring/pk stuff, so events are the next logical step.

aerox U KNOW NOTHING! not everything has been about events u should log on more often

I personally only enjoy events that have to do with killing each other. However I understand that my Graal enjoyment isn't like everyone elses.

I think DC is doing a fantasic job looking at the big picture.

Finally I'd like to point out DC's thread/poll where he asked the players what they thought was most important to convert to default HD.

Most people voted on Events to first be converted.
