Zodiac V2: Suggestions
We are currently in the process of re-scripting the server basically from the ground up. Yes we are actually doing it this time, not just talking about it.
Planned Changes: - Removal of Prestige Classes - Reworking of the Class Leveling System - Item Sockets / Enchanting of Weapons, Armor - Revamped Equipment Slots - Patterned / Phased Boss Battles - A visible storyline I'd also like to get a new GUI Scheme going, instead of the dull black one according to players. As well as improving the overall quality of the server. So feel free to suggest things you'd like to see in Zodiac V2. If you ****post I'll delete it, so don't bother. |
Make leveling harder, alot harder. Possibly increase the level cap so its not just a rush to level 60 and then pk.
Get rid of CMPs. Current zodiac, you can only pk if you are level 60 with max cmps. If you are 58, don't bother. More, less *** instances. my2cents |
Create a 8-second combat system that doesn't allow a player to regain health by sitting or running against a chair and wall for that matter. And if a player decides to run inside a building (no-pk) while in combat, give the player a 30 second debuff that states,"You've fled from combat and unable to perform any abilities. " It definitely would reduce laming.

I have been trying to push for this so i hope it can get done now. On v2, i think you should add boats and make the gmap more useful. Thirdly, I want nations to be treated like they were when zodiac first came out and revitalize nation wars, people need to have pride in their nation. Nations should have their own identities and should be different. It would be cool if nations could be built physically and destroyed. When nations get money (maybe from taxes or winning nation wars or something?) they should be able to build fences and lay cannons and add health to doors, etc.. Then nations can come and destroy these cannons and fences and such. |
Levels is one of those fickle things to change. If they change how hard it is to level, what about the many, many players who already hit the cap? It won't really be fair to new players if just about every other player only had to put 25% of the effort they have to to hit the cap.
How if they do it by simply raising the XP requirements for level-ups, I imagine they could throw together an algorithm that would calculate the player's level determined by how much current xp they have, and scale them appropriately. This, however, means that many players will lose 'progress', even though they technically did not lose anything xp-wise, but just their visual representation(their level). |

Not changing the level cap, 60 is a decent amount of leveling and the problem with changing V1's level cap was that the class leveling system was built around level 50.
Questing is an obvious one, and we will make sure to include them from the get-go, as well as a better newbie experience. I plan on experimenting with guard npcs outside of our main house, to kill troublemakers. Hoping for some funny rebel party raids against them. As for these "more originality" suggestions, they are really vague. |
Suggesting to make leveling harder is not the brightest of all ideas.
However, making leveling FUNNER should be high priority. |
It takes less than a day to get max level and max cmps, how is that not a problem..

Make leveling as a group worthy with difficult level bosses. Maybe add in a new system item feature like a Diablo II theme.

If staff does and maybe will deside to get rid of CMP, let us chose the Element of out choice when we /creset (class reset) and when we /reset (Completly reset that char to level 1) Other wise, being stuck with fire for everything would kind of suck. I also think you should make it so that not everyone can be rich instantly, and I also think that you shoudl delete completly all the "Battlemaster" and "Nightblade's" and "Archmage's". It's completly unfair how not eveyrone can afford that, and without it you don't stand a chance at pking. Another thing, make it extremly hard to be rich. Prestige classes are getting removed because they're more trouble than they're actual worth.
We also plan on implement some economy aspects to the game as well (Job Systems). |
I've gotten to 60 with pretty much max cmps in a day...all you need is a vamp fang and a Vampire race and you're set to 60. This in itself is a problem

For example, other than the same o'l Manawoven, maybe there can be another type of Level 55 Mage armor with higher defense and has an additional stat. With this you can also throw in some rare armor, like "Berserker armor" which ANY class can use, but gives a lot of defense! Those "Rare" armor's can be powerful but what are the chances of one actually dropping? Especially from the hardest bosses in the game! |
I was actually told my PRs and Jerret himself that they are resetting the server.

Current Zodiac will not be compatible with Zodiac V2, like any other server release. So it HAS to be reset when it's released to public on the main server.
As for this time around we plan on providing more customizable aspects to the game. Small Development Update: Drafting GUI, Working on Item System. |

Just the 2 cents from someone who hasn't played very much:
I got bored fast because I leveled up with some friends in only a few hours, and when I say "with" I mean they did all the work for me. It's too easy to level up, but that doesn't mean you should just increase the difficulty. Try making it harder, but fun. At least make it so everyone in a party has to be involved instead of just sitting in a corner leeching experience. |

Ideally getting level 60 in a week of constant grinding sounds reasonable, but I do understand that the 1-59 content is merely an obstacle to the endgame content and does need attention which is why it's going to be one of our main focuses.

The thing about Maloria's greatness was not having a level cap. And with that said, leveling was difficult and very time consuming. Honestly the server had a great variety of different levels all around. Only the hardcore players reached beyond 57 on Maloria.

I was thinking about shields. You could disable using setshield and introduce the concept of 1 handed weapons vs weapons that take up both hand slots and then implement shields.
You would probably have to re-do a lot of ganis and decide what should be considered a one handed weapon but I think in the long run it would be worth it. How the shield itself reduces damage is still up for debate, such as the def bonus it gives not counting if the player is attacked from behind. Would be a nice factor when choosing between katars or daggers, and would allow two handed swords and axes to have higher damage ratings (because then it would be balanced). Could maybe even have shield sizes so that not all shields can be worn by all classes. Just a random thought. |

59's won't ever have a chance against 60's. it just doesn't work that way. pking at level 60 is a whole different ball game because of all the CMP options and gear options.
if you guys are saying that leveling and CMPing is so easy, why not level to 60 and max CMP instead of trying to pk level 60's at 59? durr hur |
