the amount of people who abuse their FAQ and ET tag to mass message buying/selling advertisements has really gotten out of hand recently.

there's even one person right now advertising PPA contracts while on ET tag. these people should be punished or have their tag removed.

Right now there is a script that will alert RC whenever a staff masses on tag. I'll look through the logs of mass messages we keep and let them know. We normally speak with players as soon as they mass message.

But, I really don't buy the excuse that they "thought they weren't on ET tag".

Someone used that during a spar tourney once.

On GK if you send a PM which abuses the swear filter it will not be sent. If you can detect that a mass is being sent, you should be able to prevent it from being sent while they're on staff tag.

This way you give them a staff mass message tool, and if they abuse it you have legitimate reason to punish them.

No, it's not possible. That's part of the default swear filter, which is not flexible enough to allow you to add checks like that.
Also not possible, PMs can only be sent using certain GUI controls, and it would go through the same process as a normal PM being sent, it just might look different.

It's not always intentional to mass on tag, since it does the mass as a tag mass if you log on before someones clicked the bubble. It's stupid that FAQ's aren't allowed to mass because believe it or not the players that need the most help are the ones that don't know to check for FAQ. Surprise Surprise.

Just got that one. I've not been on Era long enough these days to know exactly what a Souizen is, but I figure it's not something that will answer questions a newbie might have.

Eventually I'd like to have some kind of training course for new players that would teach them the basics. I think that would be a lot more beneficial than a group of FAQs, since, as you said, people don't know who to contact. That's not to say we should get rid of FAQs at all, though.

It's alright if you mass on tag, but it needs to be related to your job. The only time we've been disconnecting people is when it's not related because they're just spamming all the other players who may have disabled mass PMs. It's already annoying enough reading PMs from the few RC staff that send masses like that.

Okay, well it's changed then when angel was dev admin if you massed more then one time even if it was completely related you were going to be fired.

I believe he sent that message because Tachi is getting a new gun, and he wanted to collect all of the old ones and replace them with the new one.

I'm not sure how true this is, but when he sent the message both he and Motive were located at era_meph-duel, and that is usually where new guns get tested.

I imagine there's a Guns Admin for testing. "Testing" is quite a leap for a non-Dev staff.

well meph is masas brother and masa is the gun admin, and motive made the new gun and leads tachi, I think motive made the souzen not sure...

I'm just relaying what Squirt said. Angel really had no right to say that they shouldn't be massing, anyway. That's Squirt's area, and was even at that time.

To be clear I was on ppa tag when I massed that out,and I didnt know that it switches over when you go on staff tag. Therefore it should be fixed because that is what causes problems. You cant be sure that everyone has opened up your pm,and then you go on staff tag and it becomes a red bubble and you get yelled at.

If you massed before you were on tag there's no problem because it won't be sent to the people who have masses ignored and it also won't alert RC.

That's a problem Stefan has to fix, if you're a Staff and you mass (even offtag) it'll go throught the RC Block. (Atleast when you're in the Server Options)

You guys honestly cared so much about clicking a red pm bubble so much that you had to come on here and demand that they get fired or punished?

This is the reason i think era is horrible, because you staff act so stupid over the little things. why dont you stop worrying about a FAQ massing out and go finish "new era".

And for everyone who says "its annoying", honestly? if you get annoyed cuz you have to click a bubble you might have issues.

This is an uncommon problem on Zodiac but..

It's more so that the individual is abusing their staff tag for personal gain, not because it's annoying to click a red bubble.

Staff should be reconnecting before they go on staff tag to clear any masses.

Besides the point of the individual abusing their staff tag, this is just a stupid subject anyway. I agree with the person who said "stop worrying about a FAQ massing out and go finish "new era."

The person who started this topic isn't on the staff team.

I don't know why the thread creator is complaining so much if he was one of the people who used to staff mass so much, which weren't really era related or important, overriding the mass message ignore system.

I don't even have mass messages on ignore so technically it doesn't really bother me. to be honest I'm just complaining for the sake of complaining because this forum really doesn't have much activity so I bring up random stuff for the hell of it.

Exolia also was only ET when he used to do so. Nobody listened to me, in the end he spawned 300 ECs, those were removed and he lost his ETA tag, but now he's ET again. :]

true I didn't think about that part, but other then EC spawning there isn't much a nondev staff can do

The worst ETs can do now is rig events, but I usually get loads of people pming when they suspect and ET of being even remotely unfair. Everything is logged, and if an ET tries to give someone more than 1 EC it alerts RC. No worries =p

To the topic, another thing is that it's uber annoying to get PMs on RCs, even tho you have them turned off, appels just to Staff tho.

You only get PMs from staff with RC or people on tag; it's the same problem that occurs with players.

I realize that it may be an accident while switching on and off staff tags, but I have mass messages off now so I can tell if it was an accident or not and the problem still persists.

I had this idea for ages, so did Frankie if i remember correctly. We honestly should get that system done asap for new players instead of them logging on Era and having no idea what the hell to do.
