I, and I would guess others with spaces in their account names would appreciate a free account rename.

For text based commands used in events and other activities on servers, using them on me becomes a chore, especially for those who are unaware of how to do so (adding quotes).

It has also made things difficult on things like the Testbed server, since it seems near impossible to correctly give read/write rights to directories with spaces in the names.

They should replace all accounts with space with a underscore (_<-- this thing)
or allow them to rename their accounts. Renaming would most likely be the more preferred method. Though its rare finding someone with a space in their names these days, most of you quit :)

wouldn't bother me in the least if he says no, I'm sure the people that would have an easier time if this was done might be a little disappointed

Though It wouldn't be hard replacing spaces with underscores ( _ )

When getting an account rename, it would mess up many servers, and his stats would be reset almost everywhere.

They've got more important things to do, customer support usually isn't one of them.

If it's such a problem, it might be a good idea, but it might also be more difficult than it seems. But thats' giving the benefit of the doubt.

Wouldn't changing your account name reset everything you have on Graal? I thought that the servers save your accounts by account names, and if you were to change it, it would go kablouey?

Removing the space would in fact be a whole new account. Which means that fixing everyones account with a space in it would be a monumental task. Since Stefan is the only one with the ability to do it that poses another problem. Which would you rather he do, development or spend hours making new accounts and trying to transfer everything from one account to another?

haha, I knew you were going to choose the latter since it pertained to you. What I find funny is the number of people that come to me and ask if I can add spacing to their name. They actually outnumber those asking me to remove spacing.

I'm fairly certain it was removed because of the issues it presented and I'm not sure why nothing was done about those who already had spaces

That had nothing to do with it. It was a spar room where the script interpreted his name incorrectly with no human intervention involved.

yea, and some ET commands in some levels for giving EP are also not working (giving them to a team rather than individual)

Shouldn't you complain to UN (probably using tokenize()[0] but in GS1), that's the origin of the problem.

I think it's unrealistic to expect them to go back and retrofit all their scripts for one person even though it's indicative of poor scripts to begin with

I hope they do give him and everyone else a new account (with lifetime classic, if they had it). At the very least, they should change the community names of those players to "Mark_Sir_Link" or whatever.

If scripts with no human interaction are messing up accounts with spaces... lol.

Going to have to agree with fowlplay -- UN needs to update their scripts.

You're not the only person with spaces in their account, servers should take that into consideration when designing their systems.

As Valikorlia does. I agree with fowlplay, too: go complain to the servers that are messed up; it's far easier for them to fix their scripts than for Stefan to make you a new account.
