Graveyard

Never really done a setting like this, so I thought I'd give it a go.
Of course it's not done, but I figure I'd post as I go along.

Attachment 47376

It's a little too... crowded and messy for my personal taste, but at the same time I like it.

Soala 02-12-2009 10:52 PM

Looks fun and cute

Before I die, I'd totally ask to be burried there :O

Elizabeth 02-12-2009 11:05 PM

it looks cozy.

i like it.

Crono 02-12-2009 11:17 PM

I prefer to use a lot of swamp for my graveyards.

Bottom right (from 2007)

Forgot about swamp! I will be adding that in. Glad I posted it as a WIP.

maximus_asinus 02-13-2009 06:35 AM

for some reason I liked it better before. x_x

TSAdmin 02-13-2009 07:26 AM

I like the added touch of the swamp tiles, personally. Looks excellent Dusty :D

Soala 02-13-2009 12:40 PM

Add more grass inside the graveyard, it looks a bit plain with the ground rocks

Crow 02-13-2009 03:32 PM

For the overlapping ground path tile thingies whatever, there are 4 more without any grass colors inside somewhere inbetween the lava tiles. So, maybe you can use those for the ones overlapping, so it doesn't look like errors.

I try it, they're squared off so they look more like they're stacked instead of merged. I'm gonna make some custom tiles, so those might be ones I make.

Curt1zzle 02-13-2009 09:51 PM

Lookin good. A few tile errors you can correct as you continue to work, but I like it.

Crow 02-13-2009 10:02 PM

I still have no idea how one could possible correct that cliff "error" without creating new tiles.

I don't think you can.

And thanks Curt, didn't notice that bush one; I'll fix it. The obvious errors, like the pillar things are there because I plan on adding NPCs for overlay issues.

I think I'm done.

Level as-is:
Attachment 47416

Special effects one:
Attachment 47420

Special effects two(fog):
Attachment 47419

Those floating orbs are supposed to be like, ghosts or something that float around and explode. Think Kokori forest in Ocarina of Time. They're not scripted, nor or the special effects.

edit: oh man, did I just triple post!? :x

Curt1zzle 02-15-2009 03:46 AM

Looks nice. The swirly orb ghosts are cool.

maximus_asinus 02-15-2009 03:47 AM

The level looks good with all the effects in it, but for some reason I like the level before you added the cliffs and spawn grass. x:

Crow 02-15-2009 12:25 PM

Oh man, that looks so awesome. I especially like special effects picture number one (:

WanDaMan 02-15-2009 03:51 PM

Wow, love the work in progress! Nice job :)

DuBsTeRmAn 02-18-2009 10:47 AM

I love it.. tough i still see sum errors..

Point them out so Dusty knows where to look.

DuBsTeRmAn 02-18-2009 11:49 AM

Actually they are errors which you cant fix.. Its because of the tileset.

That's what custom tiles are for.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I was inspired by Dusty's work and decided I'd also make a graveyard, using his layout as my starting point. I am not finished, I am just looking for opinions on the path used, and whether or not I used too much swamp grass. I also want to incorperate some of that swamp tile that can be found in the 'Inside House' predefined category.

The level is good, but I don't like the path. I would make it smaller.

Looking at the level I am starting to agree with you. It is a graveyard, not a walking trail. I have no idea why I made the pathways so wide. I will shrink it down.

DustyPorViva 02-22-2009 12:34 AM

If you'd like, I could post the custom tiles I made for it.

Darugo 02-22-2009 05:19 PM

This post entertains me.
Congratulations on your work.
