regular graal
 

I logged onto regular graal (classic now I guess) and there's never anybody on! Does anybody even play this anymore?

Your referring to the server "Classic" right? Theres a few dedicated players

Judging by your join date I doubt you know, papajchris, but that's essentially "GRAAL" in general. It's the original when there weren't others.

A few dedicated players doesn't make it playable at all. I've checked in every once in a while and at max there are 6 players on sometimes. All AFK anyway. You can't play that server at all. Sure, you can idle in it, but there is no way to start as a new player there.

Ive been playing longer than my join date on the forums, i started playing in 2001. But your right i do not remember ever playing classic or seeing it at the peaks it was, probablly before my time though. Yeah most players play era, un, and zodiac now.

It was Graal, don't mix up the past with the present. I miss Graal the Adventure as much as anyone else, but nowadays the Classic server have a long way to go before being able to represent GraalOnline on it's own.

It's dead.

The trouble with Classic is that it's bound by a series of traditions that keep it from becoming Too Good - they can't very well demolish Graal City and redo The Castle in FF4 style, they can't deviate too far from Zelda Online graphics, they can't edit the Regular Heads and Bodies, they have to have Zeldaworthy quests (despite that newbies can't save) - while at the same time they're awarded no special status at all - they're not Regular Graal anymore, they're just A Playerworld. If the GraalPopes were nostalgic they'd have put Classic on the website as the First Server - but since it's not "as good" as Zone, Kingdoms and Era, and certainly not as popular, they don't.

That would be sweet. :P

But yeah, I wouldn't call Classic dead, it's more like it's waking up from hibernation. We are slowly building everything back up and trying to adhere to the traditions while still pleasing all the players we can.
It's a rough road but we're battling our way through.

I joined around 2002 and started playing zone on its release date.

I joined Classic in 1989 when the only body was that horrible Shell Suit. Haha looking back at it now, they were so stupid but at the time it was all the rage.

Even trial accounts get their stats and stuff saved nowadays, you know. :rolleyes:
