The Creation Project

I'm sure you were expecting to see a server with it's own idea here, and think,

"goddammit, Horrified's back at it again."

But that's not it. In fact, this thread is here to discuss how we could actually have up-and-coming playerworlds available in yearly, or even monthly schedules. It's not impossible; it's just what you have planned is impossible. Let me explain, this sounds like nonsense to you.

Let me start by telling you that your playerworld will most likely not be completed! Why? Because your playerworld is, more then likely, fitting into one of these categories: Unoriginal, Huge, or just plain a bad idea that no one seems to have interest in helping you out in.

But this thread isn't about bashing the developers, it's about changing our mindsets as developers. As a developer of Graalonline, all of us have thought at one point or another:

"This is a really big project and is going to take a lot of time to create, but I'm gonna finish this!"

And what happened? You didn't do it! Why? Because of a lot of things. Your server got deleted, you started school up again, you ran out of time.

Therefore, I'm here to offer a sponsorship.

Woah, hold the god damn PHONE! A SPONORSHIP, YOU SAY?

YES, SIR!

Whoever makes a server plan that is absolutely AMAZING (and won't be a huge pain in the ass to develop, and seems like it won't even be possible of getting completed in the timespan of a year to six months) will get A FREE SPONSORSHIP FOR THERE SERVER'S IDEA!

Now, HOW DO YOU ENTER, YOU ASK? Simple!

Instructions:
1. Make your server idea in a .txt file. Please explain the basics completely; shorthand is allowed as long as it's readable to me. If you decide to change parts in the future, as long as they're not big changes in gameplay, it will be fine.
2. Attach it, to a post in this thread. DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR IDEA GETTING STOLEN! Your idea being posted here proves you are the original creator of the idea and if anyone tries to create your idea on there server, it will be removed from there server.
3. State in the post where it is attached The name of the server, and no more then a SINGLE SENTENCE with two commas (,) tops that is a simple explanation of your server. If it's a "paragraph" sentence it doesn't count. A short, declarative sentence.
4. Allow criticism to your ideas or it won't have even the slightest possibility of a sponsor.

The deadline is whenever I see a server worth sponsoring! So get to it!

DrakilorP2P 10-19-2008 01:08 AM

Should the .txt file contain a three hundred pages long design document or something more lightweight?

xAzerothx 10-19-2008 01:09 AM

What ever happened to Horrified?

Decided I didn't want to play anymore a while back, and I gave my account away to some guy that did something retarded + got me banned. Come back now and see I'm not banned. So sup, I am back.

Whatever you think is good enough to get my attention!

Read the directions ^______^ If you don't post enough I'll find you via AIM or MSN or something and we'll talk more into it.

xXziroXx 10-19-2008 04:14 PM

The question is, why would you sponsor a server? What's in it for you?

I want a successful playerworld up, and perhaps the idea that there idea can be sponsored by someone might make some ideas flow.

No, I'm going to use the gift system and send the playerworld to his/her account.

Darlene159 10-19-2008 06:37 PM

Nice idea.
I hope someone comes up with something really good, and it gets finished.

Elk 10-19-2008 07:07 PM

How long will the server last? (how long will you buy the server)

Six months probably first. If you guys need more time and it does look promising, I'll add time. I'll keep paying until it gets rediculous. As long as you make progress, I'll pay.

If what you're doing is worthy of such a development time then I assume he'll pay. Though I doubt any would take that long.

Elk 10-19-2008 08:42 PM

2 years is very fast for making a game

Indeed it is, good thing the thread is about playerworlds right?

Unkownsoldier 10-20-2008 01:42 AM

Player Worlds are to take your money to pay for updates on graal. All staff know that your player world will not become classic.

Cheese Planet.

In a post-technology world, super intelligent mice do battle with cheese monsters in a planet made of cheese.

Fail at being funny.
This is a serious thread, the guy wants to pay for someone to develop a server and you guys come with these stupid joke attempts

xAzerothx 10-20-2008 01:51 AM

Even if you sponsor a server the staff are going to get bored and leave. It always happens.

Disagree, 100 € a year for a server is pretty cheap, considering that you MAY use the own engine of the game, considering that you may use alot of other services, cyberjoueurs is the best game hosting company for 2D games IMO.

What other company provides you with a server and a game engine that supports easy client to server communication. Plus the fact that Graal has a large amount of public resources. And the ease of use is another factor.

Alot of places have game engines (playerworlds, essence, VBgore, and many more) have forums in which people simply offer to host peoples servers for free. All of these places have also many resources and many UPDATES. The sad point is I've watched one of the engines finally surprass graal in terms of these things, having many updates, a growing community and such, and to top, free.

Sure, graal may be of ease to use and if you manage to complete it, you may get a few more players than normal. But it's not really your game if it's on graal either is it?

It's as much of a development platform as it was back in 99.

Playerworlds are to give members a chance to make their own creations for others to enjoy. It always gave me a great deal of satisfaction to make something and watch others enjoy it from all over the world.

When it comes to levels, the only change is layers. However, the scripting capabilities has changed tremendously since '99 - making it's one hell of a better development platform.

It's a game that happens to rely on playersubmitted content.
