It looks awesome enlarged. Its to complex/detailed small makes it undefined.

xXziroXx 10-01-2008 03:04 PM

Unless you plan for it to be a sword for a statue out of solid stone, I suggest you make some drastic coloring/texture changes.

Elk 10-01-2008 06:57 PM

Agreed with ziro
You need to stop with making the weapons so solid...they don't look like actual aerodynamic blades

Next time you're in a car hold your hand out the window. Have your palm face towards the wind and then have the side of your hand face the wind.

See which slices through the air better and then come back and apologize to Elk.

Both...it needs to be fast yet dealing some damage...as designer you need to think of everything when designing something ;p
its the same with lighting

Swords aren't meant to be slow and 'crushing'.

Definition of sword:

a weapon used for cutting and thrusting, consisting of a handle (hilt) and a blade

I know what a sword is, what im trying to say is that you dont have to be super realistic about it there are many games with awesome unrealistic swords

Rufus 10-01-2008 09:03 PM

Are you guys not aware that there are different types of swords? Cutting and blunt? Some are meant to be fast and swift for better cutting damage, while some are meant to do blunt damage(AKA broadswords and the like).

Angelu 10-01-2008 10:58 PM

in the first place cool design sy

i saw so many funky kinds of swords in all the games i played
go and play monster hunter
80% of the weapons look like this there because they are made of dragonbones

Large medieval swords like that(such as the claymore) were used for concussion damage. In medieval times, when armor was plenty and slicing was pretty much useless, they instead opted to smash the **** out of the enemy, causing internal damage and broken bones.

Either way, the sword you made that was linked, Elk, is not aerodynamic. The blade may be, which is hardly even there, but the rest of the sword is not. You've got twists and curls, and metal forming what looks like a tangled ball of hair, then the rest of the sword is made of chunky rock and such. Just because the blade itself is sharp doesn't mean the whole sword is aerodynamic.

Zideruic 10-06-2008 03:08 AM

Zideruic wins.
