Not bad, except minor tilebugs :) 7/10.

ok i updated it, its the second one up there

It's all too pointy and sharp for me.

Crono 09-24-2008 09:14 PM

You did a great job following Spanky's tutorial but it's a bit dated. Try adding a direction in the sand patches, rather than aimlessly using them for fillers. The cliffs need to be more "rounded" so to speak.

alrite, thanks Crono =]

I've highlited the tile errors in your levels in red.

Red:

The two bottom left the one tile error is obvious. Both spots in the lower left you're missing a tile. If you look at the tiles in the tileset where these are grouped together you'll see the problem. Same problem in the lower right.

The cliff up there the top part of the tiles are wrong. I would finda way to adjust them... even if it means fliping the top two of the cliff tiles around.

Blue... mostly it's just pointing out how your level is to pointy. (No pun intended.) Some pointed areas is ok but going overboard makes it look unnatural and detracts from the level.

Move the mushrooms so that they're in clumps and not spread through out your level. They look nice but when playing on a level they tend to blend in and people will run into them which is annoying when playing. (Clumping together makes it more noticable.)

Then as Crono suggested use less dirt for your level. It's ok to have some open green areas with no detail. The amount of dirt you're using really takes away from the level.

All in all with some minor effort it will end up being a great level.

Erm, didn't get a nice look the first time.

You have a promising path style, just need to keep practicing. Your detailing needs some work but you will develop your own style as you make more outsides. Your cliffs are really good for a first attempt, did you make them from the pre-defined + tileset or did you use some kind of pre-defined cliff set?

I notice that you're using a lot of blocking tiles in the middle of the open area (mushrooms and those black rocks), I always prefer to put the blocking tiles off to the side so that it's not in the way. This is specially something I keep an eye out in levels that are meant to be played.

It's looking better. For the cliffs check the predefined tiles that are in the menu. I'm pretty sure those have the tiles you're looking for.

(Predefined tiles being the objects you can just click and drop wher ever. Not tiles directly from the tileset.)
