Learn basic scripting before trying to script a mudlib.

DustyPorViva 08-28-2008 03:34 AM

I was going to say the same thing. You've got a lot to learn before you attempt that kind of stuff.

He might not be trying to create a mudlib, rather create an arc file

If you want to create an arch file, just write your text in NOTEPAD and save it as filename.arc instead of .txt simply by manually typing .arc at the end.

DustyPorViva 08-28-2008 05:03 AM

Ya... an arc is simply a .txt saved as .arc
Now for the contents, I don't quite remember, perhaps someone here will post an example arc for you to look at.

What else are .arc files used for related to Graal?

Judging by how this is in the scripting section, it's safe to assume that he is trying to create a mud lib, not just a single file. Who knows, though. Perhaps he got a mudlib from somewhere else.

Stop using .arc as a file extension. Contrary to popular belief it doesn't make your server look any cooler.

.txt works just fine and doesn't require a new filetype association.

I have the honest belief that people use .arc extensions just to make themselves feel like they've got it goin' on.

Originally, no. Only people on Graal seem to do it (myself included).
